Columbia Tap Trail

Wayfinding

The Columbia Tap Trail, a federal rails-to-trails project, was completed in 2009. The trail follows the original route of the 1856 Houston Tap and Brazoria Railway. The trail is four miles in length and traverses Houston’s Third Ward and East End, connecting multiple destinations.

The proposed identity and wayfinding system honor the significance of the Columbia Tap Trail, placing a spotlight on the unique characteristics of the super neighborhoods it traverses. Through a compelling image treatment and carefully curated color palette, we aim to forge a visual connection between the trail’s rich history and its present. This cohesive design ensures that the brand not only pays homage to the trail’s legacy but also communicates its current relevance as a thriving recreational space in the heart of Houston.
